About Us
Fig & Olive Childcare is an Islamic, home-based daycare that offers full-time childcare services for children from 6 months to 5 years old in addition to after-school care for older children. We provide a nurturing and safe environment for children, aiming to create a place where they can learn, grow, and thrive. While we are Muslim-owned and teach religious practices, we happily welcome and respect every family.

Meet me, Munire
I've been an Early Childhood Educator for 7 years in both preschools and Kindergarten. I decided to open my own daycare to provide the community with the kind of care and attention I wanted for my own children. I am dedicated to making every child here feel loved, supported, and confident. All the children I've taught hold special places in my heart and I take this privilege to take care of your children very seriously.

Nurturing Faith
At Fig & Olive, we do things every day to help spark a love for religion. Little details like saying bismillah before we eat, selam when we greet each other, listen to Quran at naptime, or joining the teachers in prayer or dua! We also have a Quran teacher join us once a week to help us learn to recite Quran that we will practice throughout the week. It is our goal to work with families in raising proud muslims with a strong sense of identity and connection to our deen and community.
Warm and Home-like Environment
Your child will feel like they're with family here at Fig & Olive. Separating from parents can be scary for little ones, so being cared for in a warm and loving home helps soothe these normal worries. The mixed age group allows the smaller children to learn skills like talking, potty-training, walking, and more from the big kids; while the older children learn skills of patience and kindness from the littles.

Healthy Eating
Healthy homemade meals and snacks are served everyday and included in the cost of tuition. They are thoughtfully planned to provide well-balanced nutrition and variety, while using safe and natural ingredients. All meat served is halal.
Breakfast will start at 8:30, at 10:30 there will be a fruit and grain snack, lunch will be at 12:30, and a vegetable and protein snack will be served at 3:30.

Learning Approach
The way children are encouraged to learn and play here borrows from both Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches. What is most important is that play is purposeful, explorative, and responsible.

Teachers at Fig and Olive are purposeful when setting up activities and rotating toys to ensure that it is beneficial to the child's learning and development.

Children are explorative in the sense that they are inspired to use their imaginations and/or take risks to expand their thinking and experience.

We teach responsibility meaning that the children are to play safely, kindly, and take care of the materials.
